Description

1st starting board: opposite Gluringen station
2nd starting board: at Reckingen station
3rd starting board: between Hotel Glocke and the Rhone bridge

Starting at Gluringen station. You walk to the underpass at Reckingen station, across Gluringer Matte, above the railway line. The trail leads through the underpass to the Augenstern camping facilities in Reckingen. Via a gentle ascent through Obelimatte you reach the part of the village known as Stadle. From here you can see your destination, the Staalen chapel, situated in the midst of the mystical wintery forest. The ascent to the Staalen chapel is of medium difficulty. Take a short breather and either visit the chapel and light a candle or enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by stunning views of the Bächital valley. The trail continues across the new Blinnenstrasse towards the Äbnete hamlet, from where you have a stunning view of the Goms valley in all its winter glamour. Take an easy descent down the road to Reckingen station.
